Hello everyone!
So, I decided to start on a new project.
It's called the Hundred Strangers Project, and it is exactly what it sounds like. I'm going to walk up to random people and ask to take their picture, then to do a short informal shoot (possibly lasting as little as a minute) and repeating this until I've taken pictures of one hundred people.
In my mind, this is a great way to practice portraiture and try to be more outgoing at the same time. In any case, it should be a fun project, if only because of the fact that I get to meet Beloiters whom I would never meet otherwise.

So let's get this started. Today was Halloween, so I decided to use it as a chance to take pictures of people in their really cool costumes.

Naturally, then, the first person I took a picture of didn't have a costume.
The First Stranger, Levi! They had an incredibly intense stare which I feel was captured pretty well in this shot. I also love their skull cane and the bright red hair.
Okay, one thing I'm thinking is that I should try to give a bit more information about the situation or get a quote from the person. Oh well, I'm still learning. I'll figure this out by the eighties.

Next up is our second Stranger, Nate.
Right before this picture was taken: "Let's see if I can get a picture of you hitting the camera with a Nerf dart!"
Don't worry, this isn't how Nate usually dresses...well not always, at least. This is his Halloween costume, complete with the modified Nerf gun.

Okay, confession time. Neither of these people can really be considered a stranger. I'm already friends with Nate and I've met Levi a couple times. I know the project is specifically about strangers, but I'm fudging the rules a bit, at least as I'm getting started. Later on, I will be challenging myself to take pictures of only strangers.

Anyway, that's all for today. I've already gotten a few people who are interested in the Project and will probably become some of our next Strangers. We shall see. No matter what, this project will hopefully encourage me to do more photography and actually update this website more than once a month (sorry about that).

That's all for today,
Alec
