Hey people,
Ian, if you don't know, is one of my friends and he is hugely into medieval reenactment. A couple weeks ago, he was at the 50th anniversary of our local SCA (Society for Creative Anachronisms) chapter, a ten-day-long event. He told me that he was wearing a more Asian outfit for the event, rather than his usual European. He was also really excited to show off the new katana he bought while he was there, so we decided to go do a shoot.

We had a lot of fun using the katana in shots, in case you can't tell.

Any similarity between this and the cover for Mulan is purely unintentional, I swear.

There hasn't been much narration in a while, so here's some. We were trying to hit the Golden Hour again, but the forest caused some problems. Basically, the trees kept getting in the way. Annoying trees.

*GASP* A shot that isn't in 16:9!!

I'm really glad this shot worked. I wasn't sure about it when I took it, but I like it.

The next two photos are two edits of the same shot. I wasn't sure which I liked, so I decided to do both as a sort of "fire vs ice" thing. I may redo this another time with the katana cutting through the shot.

We gave up on hunting the Golden Hour and started heading back. At that point, we found a little clearing that was well-lit. It resulted in these two pictures, taken from two different angles.

With that last picture (possibly the best portrait I've ever gotten), I end this.
I will probably do this again with a few more people sometime. We'll see.
Thanks for reading,
Alec
