Greetings earthlings,
Before I get started with how the day went, check out this picture of a leaf I took this morning!

Anyway, today didn't go as planned. That seems to happen a lot.
We set out today planning to go to Warwick Castle, which we had been told would be amazing. After getting lost (the map didn't have much labeled, so we found ourselves at Kenilworth Castle instead), we found our way to Warwick Castle. It turned out to be what Dad called "Disney-fied", with much more focus on entertainment than on history. Yes, the reenactments seemed kind of interesting but the Time Tower, Princess Castle, and all the other themed entertainment sections of the castle seemed like they were geared more toward younger kids.
Instead of Warwick Castle, then, we headed into town where we found an eleventh-century church.

DRAMATIC PICTURE! Ooooh.
St. Mary's Church turned out to be really interesting. It had been attacked and burnt down a few times, and rebuilt and restored repeatedly. One of the major restorations required stone from the plaza outside to rebuild the tower.

From all the cathedrals, churches, and castles we've been visiting on this trip, I've been learning a lot about ceiling arches. These, for example, are flying rib arches. I think they are both interesting and beautiful.
I did have the option of going up to the tower, but I didn't really want to climb the steps today. Maybe another day, if we come back.

In case you can't tell, I was feeling rather dramatic with the pictures I got today. A lot of high-contrast work. I think it seemed fitting for the old church. It kind of emphasized the age and the history.....in my mind, at least.

For some reason, I felt like making the flower on the left look sort of like marble..... I think it looks cool.
So that's pretty much it for today. We ran into town and got some food, then we ate back at the house. Dad went on a walk earlier, so we may all go out and do another one soon. If so, I will bring the camera.
That's all for now,
Alec
